2018. 35mm film photograph — This photo was taken during my first U.S. roadtrip back in 2018. I set out on this trip driven by the desire to see the Spiral Jetty, and one other land art classic — Michael Heizer's Double Negative out in the Nevada desert. The Spiral Jetty is a land art piece created in 1970 by the American artist Robert Smithson at the Great Salt Lake in Utah. Stretching roughly 1,500 feet into the water, the sculpture was built from basalt rocks, earth, and salt crystals found on-site. For decades, the Spiral Jetty was submerged due to high lake levels. Although submerged for decades beneath fluctuating lake levels, the Spiral Jetty remains one of the most iconic works of land art in modern art history, and is still accessible today. *** I’m offering 🎁 25% off all prints through December 25th! → Use the following discount code at checkout to claim your discount: MTSAFIRE25OFF 🎁 ***
